Recent Updates
A running log of what we've released. We keep building HIPAAtherapy around what therapists actually tell us they need.
Google Calendar Integration
Google Calendar is here! Your HIPAAtherapy sessions can now live alongside the rest of your day in the calendar you already use.
Read the docs →Revenue Breakdown
Admins can now see how much each therapist brought in, how clients paid, and how much came in as copays.

Electronic Remittance Advice
Checking payer portals to see what happened to a claim is easy to lose track of. Once ERA delivery enrollment is live for a payer, HIPAAtherapy reads its 835 reports, shows the decision on the claim, and posts insurance payments automatically.
Read the docs →Couples & Family Sessions
Now a session can have more than one client! Book your couples and family sessions with everyone in the room, while each person still keeps their own private chart and portal.
Read the docs →Recurring Sessions
Same client, same time, every week. Now you can set a session to repeat.
Read the docs →Reschedule by Drag and Drop
Now you can drag and drop an event on the calendar to reschedule it!
Note Presets
To save you time when writing a treatment plan or progress note, keep the parts you reuse - goals, diagnoses, the structure - and drop them into a new note in one click.
Read the docs →Replace and Void Accepted Claims
Catching a mistake on a claim after the payer accepted it used to mean hopping into the payer portal. You can now replace an accepted claim with a corrected version, or void it entirely, right from the session.
Read the docs →Session Reminders for Clients
Session reminders now go out automatically by email to clients with portal access. Turn them on in Practice Settings, pick a lead time of 15, 30, or 45 minutes before the session, and optionally add a second reminder 24 hours ahead.

Two-Factor Authentication with Passkeys
We now support passkey-based two-factor authentication. Enable it from your profile page and confirm sign-ins with Touch ID, Face ID, or a security key.
Read the docs →In-person visits
Some clients prefer to come in, others would rather do video. Now your booking page can handle both. Choose which events allow in-person visits, and clients see the right options when they book. If someone needs to switch from in-person to telehealth last minute, you can do that too - the meeting link is already waiting.
Read the docs →Preferred Names
Not every client goes by their legal name, and neither does every therapist. You can now set a preferred name for yourself and your clients. It'll show up throughout the app - session cards, emails, the client portal - while the legal name stays on file where it matters, like clinical notes and billing.
Add time offs to block your calendar from bookings
Now you can block off time when you're unavailable, and those slots automatically disappear from your booking page. No more manually canceling sessions or fielding requests for days you're not around.
Form Template Library
Building forms from scratch can be tedious, especially when you just need a standard PHQ-9 or intake questionnaire. We added a template library with common forms - screening tools, consent forms, Good Faith Estimates - that you can use as starting points. Pick a template, adjust it for your practice, and you're ready to go!
Note Scanner
Getting physical notes into your EHR can be a painful process. With Note Scanner, you can take a picture of your handwritten notes and HIPAAtherapy breaks them down into text segments you can copy and paste anywhere in your note form. It's one of those small things that makes your day a little easier.
Space Between Sessions
Ten minutes between sessions. You're still holding one conversation while preparing for the next. Writing notes, remembering details, shifting focus. It's a lot. This feature gives you a simple way to capture what just happened and pull up the last note from your next client - so you can walk in ready, not rushed.
You're all caught up. More soon.
